Creating custom one of a kind, kick ass, special, personalize kids portraits is what I LOVE to do.

This is a photo of my 6 yr old son Austin. Many of you have seen lots of different photos of him over the years but these unique portraits are what I love doing the most with him.

Austin is just wearing a Halloween costume in the studio. The other stuff I have created for his portrait.

Austin wanted to have “big muscles like superman” so that is what he got. I wanted a space or universe feel to the photo so I added stars and a planet in the background as well. I added more red cape to the finished image as well to make it look larger than it was.

When I showed Austin the finished image…. his eyes lit up and said “very cool dad….. I have muscles”

We are starting to do a lot of these custom portraits….. I am working on a “Twilight” image right now for a client with a 9 year old daughter and it is going to be EPIC.

So if you are wanting to have a crazy cool photo of you or your kids give us a call with your idea and we can give you a quote on what the session and wall portrait would cost. Come on…. lets create something cool together.

Memories Monday

I missed last week’s Memories Monday post, as I was in Toronto at the Professional Photographers of Canada – Ontario Awards Gala and Convention. (There will be a post on that shortly.)

But we are back today with an image of my son, Austin, when he was only four months old. As you can see, he was a pretty happy baby! ๐Ÿ™‚ He is now four going on five, and still just as happy (most of the time). When looking back at old images I can’t help but smile, and alsoย  hold the disbelief of how much he has grown and changed over the last couple of years. I looked back and found a post I made when Austin was first born. If you want to take a few minutes and have a look, here it is.

Now, I promise not every Memories Monday will be about Austin….. but being a proud father, it is hard not making every post about my family.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Memories Monday

Starting today I am going to try and do some blog posts that look back at my family and personal life. These posts will give you a glimps of things that go on in my life on a day to day basis. Some posts may just be a past family photo, sometimes it might be a book I have read or an reading, other days it might be a fun story and other times it will be a photo or story about my son Austin….. like today’s post ๐Ÿ™‚

This is an image from a fall family portrait shoot I did in 2013. It is one of my favorite images from this session as I feel it shows the true personality of my son.

For those of you that know and have met Austin, you might think the same way. Let me know your thoughts and comment below.

Well our little boy is growing up…..Austin turns one this week…where does the time go?

Now I have done quite a few of these cake smashing sessions for clients but…..I have NEVER seen one destroyed in such a short time. On my exif data for the images from start to finish…it took a total of 4 min. and 40 sec. to absolutely demolish the cake. We were laughing so hard we forgot to start the video camera till half way through it. There was cake EVERYWHERE….even on my ceiling in the studio. It was almost like Austin thought …..”man I have got to totally take advantage of this before mommy and daddy take it away”. I don’t think Austin ate very much he was too busy ripping it apart and throwing it in the air. I am not sure who had more fun Aunt Deb, Mommy, Daddy or Austin……but a great time was had by all ๐Ÿ™‚

18 years ago today the world lost an amazing person. My father died of Cancer at the age of 49. He is greatly missed by all. I had an amazing relationship with my father, we spent a lot of time together Hunting and Fishing every weekend possible and I sure miss that. But what I really wish is that he could have met his grandson Austin who was named after him. Every time I look at my son I see my father in him, his blond hair and blue eyes are much the same as my fathers were but it is Austin’s expressions that really make me see my dad in him and that I am so grateful for. Dad I miss you greatly and I only hope I can be as good a father to Austin as you were to me ๐Ÿ™‚

YEEEEEE HAAAAAA it’s the long weekend…..and the weather isn’t that bad either (well at least it isn’t snowing). Spent a lovely afternoon with my beautiful wife and 5 month old boy walking in the bush…..can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday afternoon. Although the wind is a bit chilly Austin didn’t seem to mind at all…..oh and about 30 seconds after this image Austin got his first mouthful of leaves….I am guessing the first of many ๐Ÿ™‚
