Teaching Photography Classes and Clubs
This past week I had the amazing privilege of teaching a cool bunch of kids, from the St. Ignatius Catholic School Photography Club here in Guelph, about Fashion Photography. I was asked by Nicole Raftis, Heather Schlachter and Principal Vince Campologo if I would come in and talk a bit about Fashion Photography to their young, eager photography club members, and I jumped at the chance! 🙂
Not only did we talk about Fashion Photography, we also had a chance for some one-on-one teaching and getting the kids to shoot with a professional DSLR with a real live model, named Erin Stuart. Each student had a chance to come up to the front with me and use my gear to take a photo of Erin.
We also talked about choosing the right model for a fashion shoot…. and the consensus was that I was not the right person for the job…… oh well, better stick to taking the photos and not being in them. 🙂
I taught the students how to take a regular photo just by using the available light in the room.
And then I showed them my style of lighting with a quick set up of just two flashes. The kids couldn’t believe the difference between the two photos.
Erin and I had an incredible time hanging out with the kids at St. Ignatius Catholic School. Thank you to all involved and happy shooting. I hope one day some of you will be applying to work in my studio! 🙂
