Week 3 , 2017

Soooooooo…. it is Monday and I am a day late with my blog post, but I do have a great excuse……. NFL Playoffs…. nuff said 🙂

Ok, so this post is not about football (cough cough Go Green Bay cough cough), but it is actually inspired by yesterday’s games.

If you missed it, The Packers destroyed Dallas ……. well ok, they won on a field goal with only seconds left on the clock…….. but this is my blog post and I will write it as I want to.  🙂

All kidding aside, this game was EPIC and by far one of the best NFL games I have watched. Not because my team won, well ok that might have a little something to do with it, but because of how both teams played and never quit until the end.

So this week’s topic is…..

Determination :

a :  the act of deciding definitely and firmly; also :  the result of such an act of decision

b :  firm or fixed intention to achieve a desired end

As a father of an amazing 6 year old I am reminded daily what it is like to be learning new things every day. I watch Austin struggle with things that are simple to me….. like tying shoes…….. Ok most of my shoes are slip on and sandals, but I can honestly say I know how to tie my own shoes. It amazes me how easily adults give up on things, and yet 6 year olds will keep trying.

Austin started basketball this winter for the first time. Look at the intensity in the photo below. From the beginning, Austin spent most of his time shooting on the regulation baskets and not the smaller ones that were set up for the kids. The first day during the free shooting part of the session, I was trying to get him to shoot on the smaller baskets. “No daddy, I want to shoot on the big nets like the real basketball players do, the other ones are too easy.”  Determination with a capital D.

Now back to the Packers. Did I tell you they won their play off game against Dallas yesterday????? 🙂

If you get a chance take a look at the last drive, especially the last throw Aaron Rogers makes down the side line. When all looked lost and the play dead, he found an opening and the rest is history, well after Crosby nails the field goal to end the game.

Determination, yes it is every where. Ask yourself this week….. what are you determined to accomplish in the next six days?
